Playing Catch up on April and May.....

April and May (so far) have been busy months. April is the month for birthdays in our family. My husband, sister, 2 cousins, best friend, and father in law all have birthdays in April. We celebrated my sister and cousins birthdays on Easter weekend. Jamie had to work so he stayed at home for Easter.

My sister and I on her birthday.

The next weekend my good friend from high school, Liz, got married in Winston-Salem. Jessica (my best friend) and her husband came too. We had a good time catching up. They are so much fun :)

Jamie turned the Big 3-0 this year. We had celebrations with both sides of the family. Way too much cake and pizza.

Caught him in mid bite lol

My parents were out of town this year for Mother's Day so we are going to celebrate it at the end of May. My mom is the best mom anyone could ask for. She is so selfless. She is one of the most giving and caring people I know. I am truly the woman I am today because I have such a great mom :).

This past weekend Jamie and I went to see my sister. She moved to GA about a month ago to take a new job. We had a really good time hanging out in her new town. I miss her being so close but a least we have a cool place to go visit with good shopping.

That pretty much wraps up the big events of the last month and a half. Today was an exciting day in the Ashwell house. We joined our church!!! We have been visiting for almost a year and decided it was time to make this our church home. We are looking to starting a family soon and see this church as a great foundation for our lives. We are super excited :)

Happy Birthday Sis!!!!

My sister, Sarah, is turning 26 on Saturday. She is the best sister anyone could ask for. I love that we talk on the phone almost everyday, I can tell her anything, she understands my weirdness and I understand hers, she gets excited about little things, she is routine, she is trustworthy, Jamie and her are so much alike, she is creative (master scrapbooker), she is thoughtful, she is a planner, she will sing with me, most of my best memories have her in them...She is my best friend.....Love you sis.....

Springtime is Here.....

I am sooo glad that spring is here. I hope that the weather will stay just like it is today. Days like this remind me of how it felt in Boone, NC (Appalachian State) when I was in undergrad. Not a cloud in the sky, wind gently blowing, trees and flowers starting to bloom, people coming out of winter hibernation and taking walks and bikes rides.....Jamie had never been to Boone so a few weekends ago we took a long weekend and went to Boone and Blowing Rock. We toured the campus and saw all of the changes that have been made. We ate at some of my favorite places...Macados, Cayons, Kilwins, Knights on Main....We went on the parkway and to Grandfather Mountain and Linville Falls. It was a great trip and I good way to say goodbye to winter...

Let it Snow.

This week turned out to be a pretty short work week. I actually got two days off of work for SNOW. It was such a nice break and we had a lot of fun playing in it. Sam was not so sure about it though. It was nice because for two days Jamie and I did not have anywhere we had to go. So we just stayed at home, slept in, ate to much, played in the snow, watched movies.....
This week I have truly seen the power of prayer all around me. It has been awesome to see so many people praying and see the results of healing, comfort, calmness , and new relationships.
"Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12

Start to the 2009

It has been a while since I posted anything. I need to be better about blogging. 2009 has gotten off to a great start. Jamie has started back to school. He seems to be excited about his schedule this semester. Last weekend my parents came to visit and brought my grandmother's dining room table and buffet. It looks really nice in the dining area. They also brought Sam home after a 2 week vacation with his grandparents. We were so excited to see him. We missed him so much. I have had a busy week with work. Supervising three people is starting to get to me a little. I really enjoy all the girls I supervise it is just a lot of paperwork and responsibility. I got back in my workout routine this week. It has been a struggle to get back in the swing of things, but I feel so much better when I go. On Thursday, I went to the Hurricane's hockey game. It was really fun, even though they did not win. Good times with the fam...

This week brought a praise.....My good friend Tisha had a beautiful baby boy. Welcome to the world Arjun Daniel Shah...

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was at my house this year. Jamie's family and my mom's side of the family gathered together and had a great day. I have become quite domestic. I was stressed out about cooking the turkey, but it turned out great. Everyone brought a dish and all the food was great. We spent the rest of the time hanging out, playing outside, and trying not to fall asleep from all the food. It was a great day and I am very blessed to have such a great family.

Taking the Plunge...

Blogging......Who me? Yeah, why not? I have debated on starting a blog for a while now and I finally took the plunge. I have followed a few blogs for a while and thought it would be a good way to keep in touch with friends and channel creative energy. So here it goes.....

I am a city girl who has found myself loving the simple life of a small town. I live in Seven Lakes, NC which is near Pinehurst, NC (golf and old people central). If you still are lost don't worry most people have no idea where it is. I have lived here for 3 years. In the course of these 3 years I have met my husband, we got married, bought a house and continued to love my job as a Speech-Language Pathologist. My husband, Jamie and I were married June 30, 2007. He is the love of my life and has fulfilled my life so much. We have the cutest beagle ever, Sam. He is our only child right now. We plan to have children in the near future but are enjoying being married right now. I love my job. There is no greater job then working with kids. It can be challenging but is so rewarding. I have a great family and network of friends. I am very blessed and praise God for all he has made possible in my life.
